My
name is Temple
Meeks, and my husband Todd along with our
shelties live in Tucson, Arizona.
I
started in Shelties in 1997, when I purchased two male pets to
love. My mother had shelties in the 60’s and told me
they were a great breed of dog, so I started studying up on them
and decided that is what I wanted as a pet for my husband and
myself.
In
1999 I decided I wanted to start showing this breed and began
searching for the “perfect” female to start my showing
career with. After several prospects that didn’t work
out, I was lucky enough in 2001 to purchase a 4 year old female
from Iona Shelties “Iona Shutterbug at Hillview”. I
began showing her but then became pregnant and had a handler
show her to her 13 points. She was bred 3 times, but
unfortunately was sterile and had to be spayed before she
finished her championship.
In
2000 I met
Alice Carty
of Daval Shetland Sheepdogs, and fell in love with her dogs. She
and I have become close over the years and I now have my line
based on her dogs. She
finished my first Champion Daval Who Loves Who “Lulu”.
I
keep a small number of dogs so they can all be housepets.
Puppies are raised in my living room with all the noises of
young children and everything else going on. I have a small
number of litters as I try to keep my numbers small.
All
of our pet puppies are sold on spay/neuter agreements unless
they are older when they leave, then they are altered before
leaving here.
All
of our dogs are genetically tested for VWD, eyes, hips and
thyroid.
I
am a member in good standing with SSCGT - Shetland Sheepdog Club
of Greater Tucson and ASSA - American Shetland Sheepdog
Association.
